PEGGY LI
Qigong and Tai Chi Senior Instructor, and Center Co-Director (and all-around Girl Friday), Ms. Li brings to patients and students a multidisciplinary understanding of energy and the human body, developed over 38 years as student, practitioner, and teacher of Asian healing arts (nutrition, bodywork, and exercise).
Peggy studied oriental massage (shiatsu and reflexology) with many teachers, including the acclaimed shiatsu teacher Shizuko Yamamoto and reflexologist May Post, and graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage. (She has now retired from her practice.) In the mid 1970s, Mrs. Li studied with macrobiotic leaders, Michio and Aveline Kushi and taught cooking at the East West Foundation (now Kushi Institute), as well as helped to establish (with Michael Rossoff) a local center for macrobiotic studies.
“I love to empower clients and students by sharing how to take care of our bodies and minds. There is, in truth, no limit to the harmony and strength we can create within ourselves.”
In 1985, she discovered and fell in love with tai ji and qigong. Two years later, she met and began learning with her principal teacher, now husband Nianzu Li. Her previous training in body awareness disciplines included hatha yoga, bioenergetics, breathing practices, and the Alexander Technique. She has taught qi exercise since 1992.
